Business Plan and Start-up Seminar
Starting a business is an important process with many decisions
and duties. To help make the process easier the FHSU Kansas Small
Business Development Center (KSBDC) offers an overview of
what it takes to start a business in Kansas. At these sessions,
learn about naming the business, important decisions in
determining legal form of business and the mechanics of
writing a business
plan, paying taxes, preparing a cash flow projection and
other issues important to a new business. There is no fee to attend, however,
pre-registration is required. These sessions are offered in Hays, Colby and Great Bend each month.

Record Keeping with Quickbooks
Learn the fundamentals of Quickbooks software in a 3-part seminar.
This is a basic workshop. Session 1: Basics of Recordkeeping,
Getting Started with Quickbooks, Working with Lists
Session 2: Setting up Inventory, Invoicing, Customizing/Designing
Forms, Payment Processing
Session 3: Payroll, Sales Tax, Creating Reports
3-hour sessions for 3 evenings, total 9 hrs. Cost is $180
and pre-registration is required. Register early and receive the discounted rate of $150.

Small Business Tax Workshop
The KS Dept. of Revenue provides high quality training on
tax topics and updates on new requirements. Topics include
Sales
Tax, Compensating Tax, and Kansas Withholding Tax. This workshop
qualifies for continuing education credit. Cost is $45 and
pre-registration is required. Register early and receive the discounted rate of $35.

Contractor Tax Workshop
In response to the growing need for more specialized information
on tax requirements for contractors, this seminar offers
the basics of Kansas taxes and how they affect the contractor.
An overview of safety issues will also be covered. TOPICS:
Taxation of materials and labor; commercial and remodeling
projects, exemption certificates, and safety issues. Cost is $55 and
