Transfer Student Information
How do I find out what credits transfer?
The Registrar's Office
uses the following guidelines to evaluate all credits earned from
accredited institutions on an individual basis.
1. All acceptable transfer hours will be recorded on your FHSU transcript.
2. In order to be granted a bachelor's degree from FHSU, 60 semester hours of credit must be earned from an accredited, baccalaureate degree granting institution, with a minimum of 30 hours earned at FHSU, in accordance with the residency requirements stated in the University Catalog.
3. The Registrar's Office evaluates all credits for general acceptance to FHSU; however, your major department decides final determination of credits accepted toward a specific degree.
4. FHSU accepts grades of "D" in transferable courses. Your major department determines how "D" grades are applied toward a specific degree.
5. A transfer
equivalency guide for Kansas community colleges can be found
here.
What should I do if I wish to change my major?
To change an undergraduate major prior to enrollment, you should contact the Registrar's Office at (785) 628-4222. Once you are enrolled, make major/minor changes through your department chair.
Where do I find my graduation requirements?
All students who are admitted to FHSU are assigned an academic
adviser. It is through consultation with this adviser as well as
through the University
Catalog that students may find the graduation requirements for
their majors.
The transcript analysts in the Registrar's
Office prepare degree summaries for transfer students who have
45 or more credit hours. These summaries provide an outline of the
courses required to meet the specific graduation requirements for
individual majors.
Where can I find out about employment while I am a student?
The FHSU Career Services
Office provides students with a variety of potential employment
opportunities. These opportunities can range from part time jobs
on and off campus to summer employment and internships. Career Services
can be a valuable resource when it comes to finding a job after
graduation. The office is in Sheridan Hall, Room 214. Telephone
(785) 628-4260.
