Bachelor of General Studies
The Bachelor of General Studies degree (BGS) is a four-year liberal arts degree
offered through the College of Arts and Sciences at Fort Hays State University.
The degree provides flexibility for students who have well-defined career objectives
and wish to determine the content of their degree rather than follow a more
course-specific degree. The program requires a student to select an area
of concentration. Students may select a second area of concentration
or use elective hours to reach the minimum needed to graduate and meet all
degree requirements.
The Bachelor of General Studies degree can be used for entry into a wide variety
of occupations. The BGS degree serves as a bridge to numerous graduate degree
programs and prepares students for employment in areas not requiring specific
baccalaureate degrees.
The Bachelor of General Studies degree at Fort Hays State University can be completed
on-campus or on-line through the Virtual College. Students are required
to complete a minimum of 30 hours from FHSU but are not required to come to campus.
For program information and available areas of conentration,
visit the BGS Web site.
