I enjoy the flexibility of the Virtual College. As a Major League Baseball player we are on the road quite a bit. I can study on the road at times that work for me. I chose FHSU over others because of the transferability of courses. I was able to transfer more hours into FHSU than other schools I looked at. With the programs being online, I can continue to pursue my degree while playing baseball. It works very well for me.

I researched several universities that offered an online graduate degree.  During my search my stepfather informed me that FHSU offered on online degree in the program that I wanted and I was very excited because I knew of FHSU’s great reputation.  (One of my concerns while researching schools was ensuring that the university had a reputable reputation.)  My emphasis was in human resource management and I chose this after a great deal of consideration and research.  I had previously worked as a trainer which is an aspect to HR and really enjoyed the work that I did.  I started researching jobs based upon anticipated need in the future, potential income and an area of interest to me which led me to pursue my degree in HR management.  Not only does FHSU have a great reputation, but it was much more affordable than the other programs that I had looked at.  My experience with FHSU has been enjoyable, informative, and impressive. From the school itself to the professors and support staff, it was a wonderful experience.  I am so glad that I chose FHSU; it was just what I needed for obtaining my graduate degree while also balancing work and motherhood. Whenever I talk to somebody who is considering furthering their educational goals, I always advise them to consider FHSU.  I cannot say enough about the school, professors and the learning experience.  I would highly recommend FHSU.

My husband was accepted to CU in Boulder, Colorado, so we moved here to allow him to obtain his BFA in film. I had a BA in English from Thomas Edison State College in NJ, but I wanted to pursue a master’s degree. I decided to go with FHSU’s Virtual College program because it offered a degree that interested me (the MLS with a concentration in English), provided the flexibility I needed.  I am currently applying for editing jobs and have considered teaching at a community college level. I also plan to write a novel. I am considering going back to school to get a second Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Most likely through FHSU’s Virtual College program).

By day, and many nights I work as a Technical Solutions Manager.  I design network, telephony and computer technology to implement, support and maintain call centers throughout the United States and abroad.  I also coordinate with our internal and external clients to translate business requirements to technology solutions. I chose FHSU’s virtual college for many reasons:  The coursework is readily available in a medium that is convenient and flexible to my busy schedule.  Despite working with individuals and professors that transcend geographic boundaries and locations, there is a strong sense of community amongst FHSU.  Additionally, the cost is affordable and I was able to marry the courses I want with a University that maintains a strong and reputable reputation.  Being able to choose from a plethora of online coursework has allowed me to pursue course materials that best met my specific goals.   Honestly, I felt a stronger bond with my instructors than I had in traditional classrooms at other higher-learning institutions.  I also build a strong relationship with my classmates.  The key is giving the effort in which you expect to yield.

I chose Information Networking and Telecommunications with an emphasis in Web Development because I wanted to pursue a career in a technical field.  I had some experience working with websites and databases in the military and wanted to formalize my qualifications with a bachelor’s degree. I already had most of the hours completed for my degree when I was hired for a full time position with Cargill Meat Solutions as a Business Intelligence Analyst.  I couldn’t pass up the opportunity with Cargill but I also wanted to complete my degree.  The Virtual College allowed me to work full-time and finish my degree at the same time.

"I just wanted to say that I love the online program. I work full time and live in Colorado and this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have recommended this program to several people and handed out the website information to them. It is hard for many people to get to an actual campus and this option opens up many doors for people that otherwise would not be able to attend. The financial aid is also very easy to apply for and the staff is extremely helpful with questions."

"Of all the schools that we recruit employees from, Fort Hays State has the most impressive track record of employees to management level. There is no doubt that the training that they receive at Fort Hays State definitely equips them for the real world."

"My professors were excellent and I feel that we developed a very positive "virtual student/professor relationship" –more so than I would have as a student attending classes on campus. I would absolutely recommend Fort Hays Virtual College to anyone. In this day and age trying to work and raise a family I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to be able to finish school and not be tied down to classrooms and schedules."

"I truly believe that the INT curriculum and the way the department was developed and ran helped me accomplish my goals. In general, it takes an average of 5 yrs (at my company) to reach this level. But with great classes in Networking, data, PRESENTATIONS FOR SURE, and the staff, I was able to accomplish it in 1 yr and 11 months."
