Tigers in Service
This student-run program is designed to match volunteers with service opportunities in the Hays area. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, the Center for Civic Leadership, and the Office of Student Affairs, Tigers in Service is a clearinghouse for students with a desire to participate in community service activities.
Clean and Green (2007)

Wednesday was a beautiful day to clean up campus. 10 volunteers showed up with lots of energy ready to work. Together, we collected eight bags of trash from off campus and the surrounding neighborhood. A representative from Hays Daily News and the on-campus TV station stopped by on Wednesday and got interviews from a few of the volunteers. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of the participants and the maintenance crew for all of their help this year!!

Clean and Green (2006)

One group of students hauled a tire out near the Colesium.     Overcast skies and dropping temperatures weren't enough to keep about 25 Fort Hays students from taking part in the second annual Clean and Green campus beautifying project on Oct. 11, 2006. Eleven bags of trash were collected, four were from along the Big Creek shores. Student Organizations were huge contributors to making campus cleaner on this day. With Tiger Friends and Family Day the following Saturday, this was a great way to show FHSU pride!
There were 11 bags of trash collected on Clean and Green 2006.

Clean and Green (2005)

The Student Government Association (SGA) at Fort Hays played an instrumental role in several service opportunities during the 2005-2006 school year. SGA exists to serve the students and represent them at the local, state and national level. In October of 2005, SGA and Tigers In Service organized Clean and Green. The maintenance staff helped make the event possible by not picking up trash so that students could see the effects of not putting trash where it belongs.

Around 40 students, armed with trash bags, gloves, and trash pokers, helped make campus clean for when all of the prospective students and their families visited Fort Hays for the annual Tigers Friends and Family Day, which occurred the following Saturday. The maintenance staff appreciated our help and students noticed how much cleaner our campus was. In addition, the students who participated made it clear that they would no longer litter. Their appreciation for trash cans increased greatly after picking up after all of the students.
