Center for Civic Leadership
This
student-run program is designed to match volunteers with service
opportunities in the Hays area. Sponsored by the Student Government
Association, the Center for Civic Leadership, and the Office
of Student Affairs, Tigers in Service is a clearinghouse for
students with a desire to participate in community service
activities.
Service Awards
Tigers In Service, the Center for Civic
Leadership, and the Leadership Studies Department want to encourage
students and student organizations to be the best they can be. For
this reason, a student organization service plaque and certificate of service have been created.
Volunteer Organization of the Year Plaque (Spring
2006)
So many of our great organizations are already actively involved in service and we think it's time everyone knew it. The service plaque will not only bring pride and prestige to your organization, it will also let students, teachers, and the Hays community know that you care. To earn recognition as the top service organization of the year, student organizations must record their community service hours with Tigers In Service via the reporting service link on this website or through email. The number of service hours is calculated by multiplying the number of student organization volunteers by the number of hours served. The community service events must be sponsored by Tigers In Service or open to other organizations for participation in the volunteering. The organization that records the most hours throughout the year will earn the recognition of an engraving and a group picture on the plaque that is displayed in the lower level of the Memorial Union. The award will be presented to the winning organization at the last Student Government Association meeting of the current school year. SPURS is recognized as the 2005-2006 Volunteer Organization of the Year.
Volunteer of the Year (Beginning
Fall 2006)
The Certificate of Service is designed to recognize those students
who have put forth commendable effort in the area of service and
volunteerism. To earn this certificate, a student must complete
60 hours of community service over the period of one year, and record these hours via the reporting service link on this website or through email.
Report your Service Hours with Tigers In Service in order to be eligible for the 2008-2009 school year awards!
