College-Level Examination Program
(CLEP) Credit Available at FHSU
Listed below are important policies regarding CLEP
credit at FHSU.
- Students should consult their academic advisor
and/or the transcript analysts in the Registrar's
Office for specific information on how the successful completion
of an examination applies to their degree program.
- A grade of CR (Credit) is recorded on the transcript
for successful completion of an examination that is accepted for
credit.
- No credit is awarded for an examination that is
a prerequisite for a course previously passed.
- A maximum of 30 hours of credit from credit-by-examination programs
may be applied toward a Fort Hays State University degree.
- CLEP credit policies are subject to change upon
periodic review.
For exam descriptions, visit the National
CLEP Website.
CLEP
credit policies at FHSU are listed in two different charts.
It
is VERY IMPORTANT to reference the correct policy chart!
Use the CLEP
Computer-Based Testing Credit Policy Chart if:
- You plan to take a CLEP Computer-Based examination.
- You have taken a CLEP Computer-Based examination.
- You have taken or plan to take a CLEP Paper-Based examination
on or after APRIL 1, 2004. (CLEP paper-based examinations taken
on or after 4/1/04 use computer-based test questions and have
the same credit-granting scores as computer-based examinations.)
(CLEP transcripts show a letter "C" designating
computer-based testing for each of the testing scenarios listed
above.)
Use the CLEP
Paper-Based Testing Credit Policy Chart ONLY if:
- You have taken a CLEP Paper-Based examination BEFORE April 1,
2004. (CLEP paper-based examinations taken before 4/1/04 are a
part of the now-retired paper and pencil program.)
(CLEP transcripts show a letter "P" designating
paper-based testing before April 1, 2004 for the testing scenario
listed above.)
