Dr. Margaret Miller
Butcher lives in Dodge City, Kansas and has worked for FHSU since
1997, first as the Regional Director of the Virtual College and
as a faculty member beginning in 2000. She holds a B.S. and an
M.S. degree from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, in
Radio/TV/Film (1980) and Mass Communication (1986), and a Ph.D.
in Communication and Multicultural Education from the University
of Missouri, Columbia (2002).
She has worked with geographically isolated
adults since 1992, helping them to better themselves by seeking and acquiring
associate's, bachelor's, and graduate degrees through distance education,
beginning with paper based and interactive television distance learning.
She has taught online since 2000. Since 2003 she has coordinated and
taught the American Film/American Culture classes to students at FHSU
Chinese partner schools: Sias International University in Xinzheng, Hunan
Province; Shenyang Normal University in Shenyang, Liaoning Province;
and the Zhouyue College of the University of International Business and
Economics in Beijing.
Her research interests include intercultural
communication, Chinese communication, ethnocentrism and distance education.
