Development Application Information
As Chair of the FHSU Service-Learning Committee, I am thrilled to announce the availability of service-learning project development funds for the 2007-2008 academic year. An action plan was funded to enhance existing as well as newly developed FHSU service-learning courses with course development funds. The University Service-Learning Committee, in cooperation with the Center for Civic Leadership, is seeking applicants for service-learning course development funds for the 2007-2008 academic year. Development funds will be awarded for courses that integrate community engagement into the curriculum to enhance disciplinary understanding, civic engagement, and meet genuine community needs.
These funds are available for:
-
Enhancement of an existing undergraduate or graduate service-learning course
(up to $250/semester)
-
New service-learning project development in an undergraduate or graduate course
(up to $350/semester)
Funds are available on a competitive basis to all FHSU faculty members in any academic unit. Applicants will need to specifically address how their service project will enhance student learning through the preparation, action, reflection, and assessment processes associated with service-learning. The process includes: 1-2 page double-spaced document explaining your service-learning project, a budget, as well as your course syllabus. Attached are the application guidelines for both service-learning project development funds. This process is not meant to be cumbersome, but to aid in your service-learning project development.
The University Service-Learning Committee will review applications and select the course development recipients. Applications for the fall semester are due April 6, with applications for the spring semester due November 2. Applications should be submitted to Jill Arensdorf, Chair, University Service-Learning Committee. For more information please contact Jill at 628-5562 or via email at jrarensdorf@fhsu.edu.
