Leadership Education and Development
(LEAD) is the leadership development division of the Center
for Civic Leadership. Under the LEAD program, CCL staff, faculty,
and fellows provide leadership training and development activities
for FHSU students, as well as communities throughout the state
of Kansas. In partnership with the Department of Leadership
Studies at FHSU, LEAD experts provide training sessions on a
variety of leadership-related topics. Listed below are several
of LEAD’s current programs and a request for services
form. For additional information and questions, please contact

Kansas Women's Leadership Conference
The Leadership Advantage: kansas women's leadership conference is a new state-wide initiative from the faculty, staff and students of Fort Hays State University (FHSU). The goal of this conference is to provide a forum for discussion on issues, concepts, and skills regarding leadership development for Kansas women of all ages. As the title of this conference suggests, women's collaborative nature and spirit bring a unique advantage to the process of leading others.
Community-wide
Leadership Workshops
CCL faculty and fellows are available to provide leadership
workshops for community-wide functions. Sessions may include
strategic planning, master planning, problem-solving or other
leadership-related programming.
Organizational
Leadership Training Sessions
CCL provides leadership training experts to both private and
non-profit organizations looking for training sessions. Our
trainers are qualified in a wide variety of leadership topics.
Leaderville Series
Leaderville is a student leadership development workshop series
designed to improve leadership skills for FHSU students. Six
sessions are held each semester. Students attending four of
the sessions will receive a Leaderville Series certificate
of completion.
LEADOFF
Leadoff is the FHSU student leadership development retreat.
The retreat is held off campus for student leaders at the
beginning of the fall semester, giving FHSU students an opportunity
to network and collaborate with each other through a variety
of leadership-based training activities.
Organizational Audit
CCL staff are available to provide both organizational and
management audits to interested organizations. These audits
evaluate organizational strengths and weaknesses and provide
recommendations for improvement.
Rural
Symposium Conference
Working closely with the FHSU College of Education, CCL provides
leadership workshops for the Kansas Rural Symposium each year.
The purpose of this program is to encourage community and
rural development in Kansas.
Citizen Leader Spotlight
This initiative is a column and poster series run throughout
the Hays community that spotlights “ordinary people
doing extraordinary things” in civic engagement. Those
spotlighted include local and national citizens, living and
deceased.
