Nita
M. Landrum Award
The Nita M. Landrum Award, established in 1994,
recognized alumni or friends who have provided sustained volunteer
service for the betterment of the Alumni Association and/or the
university, especially in their home communities. Award winners
receive an engraved plaque during the annual Homecoming Awards Banquet.
Candidates may be an individual, couple, or family who have contributed
time and energy over a sustained period, suggested to be five years.
Individuals who previously received recognition for their service
to FHSU and immediate family of the Awards and Recognition committee
members are not eligible. The selection committee will not overlook
persons who have served loyally and faithfully in the past, but
who currently may not be active volunteers. The award is named in
honor of Nita M. Landrum. She received a bachelor of science degree
in education from FHSU in 1926 and completed a master's degree in
1934. In 1926, the Onaga, Kan., native began serving FHSU in both
paid and volunteer capacities. She retired in 1994.
