Legacy Scholarship Program
Legacy Scholarship
The Fort Hays State University Legacy Scholarship Program was established to honor the
legacy of its alumni while supporting the exceptional educational environment provided by the University.
Such programs continue the legacy of the FHSU tradition by providing scholarships to academically talented
children of FHSU graduates who are members of the FHSU Alumni Association.
FHSU Legacy Scholarship Program Funding
All new first-time freshman, non-resident students living outside of Kansas,
Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, who meet the designated criteria,
are eligible for consideration. The individual awards will be $5,000 per academic
year, renewable up to four years, or $20,000 total.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be incoming, non-resident, first-time freshman
living outside of Kansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, who
have an ACT composite score of 21 or higher or equivalent score on the SAT.
- Applicants must be legal children or dependents, including adopted or stepchildren of
FHSU graduates who are current dues paying members of the FHSU Alumni Association.
- Children of deceased FHSU Alumni Association members are also eligible if the alumnus
was a member of the Association at the time of his or her death.
- Applicants must apply for admission to Fort Hays State University as degree seeking
undergraduates and must enroll in 12 or more on-campus undergraduate credit hours in both fall and spring semesters.
Application/Selection Process
- Students can apply for this scholarship by going to the FHSU Scholarship Services Web site at
https://secure.fhsu.edu/scholarship/. Priority deadline for the
scholarship is December 15 for fall enrollment. Students applying after the priority deadline will be
considered based on available funding.
- All recipients will receive $5,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate study,
or $20,000 total, with monies to be dispersed in equal amounts each semester of the award year.
- The scholarship must be used in the designated year it is awarded. It is not transferable.
Students who withdraw from all classes will automatically forfeit the scholarship for future semesters.
- Recipients will be notified upon verification of scholarship guidelines and criteria.
- Any previously awarded/accepted FHSU ACT driven scholarship or the Academic Opportunity
Award will be replaced by this Legacy Scholarship.
